Responsibilities
- Play a foundational role in shaping the Apache Cassandra ecosystem at NVIDIA and defining platform strategy and capabilities.
- Build self-service provisioning, scaling, multi-tenant controls, and coordinated observability for Cassandra clusters.
- Manage and operate a large-scale, stateful system for high-throughput, low-latency production workloads.
- Partner with developers across organizations to design effective, scalable, and long-lasting schemas.
- Lead architectural improvements to enhance availability, fault tolerance, consistency, and multi-region durability.
- Establish operational standards for schema governance, disaster recovery, backup & restore, and resource management.
- Diagnose, debug, and learn from production issues across multiple layers of the infrastructure stack.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building distributed systems with deep understanding of Cassandra internals, including replication, compaction, GC tuning, and JVM performance.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing large fleets of database clusters: building tooling, monitoring, capacity planning, backups, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of AWS technologies and services including EC2, ELB, ECS, API Gateway, WAFs, and VPCs, with provisioning automation experience.
- Strong system-level fundamentals: operating systems, hardware, and networking.
- Solid understanding of distributed system tradeoffs: consistency, failure modes, and partition tolerance.
- Proven ability to grow and deliver impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Ways to stand out
- Experience with HashiCorp Vault and integrating it into deployment processes and application security.
- Experience with data protection technologies: encryption, key management, data loss prevention, and hardware security modules.
- Contributions to open-source distributed database projects.
Benefits
- Competitive base salary. The base salary range is 168,000 USD - 264,500 USD for Level 4, and 200,000 USD - 322,000 USD for Level 5.
