About the Role
As a member of the Performance Team, you will contribute to enhancing Sentry's core tracing, debugging, and application performance experience. The team focuses on providing powerful views into tracing and performance telemetry to create clear debugging workflows from problem identification to remediation.
A Design Engineer in this team combines strong technical engineering skills with design sensibility and user experience intuition, collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product teams to build compelling user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire Sentry product and contribute across the codebase.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and Engineering Leadership to design and ship new features focused on intuitive and performant user experiences.
- Raise technical and design expertise by mentorship, pairing, and design reviews.
- Build and maintain features and reusable components for products like Explore, Trace View, Insights, Dashboards using Python, React, and TypeScript.

Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional UX, interaction, or visual design and engineering experience.
- 6+ years of professional engineering experience.
- 6+ years working with JavaScript/TypeScript and React or similar frameworks.
- Experience designing and refining user experiences within complex workflows.
- Experience mentoring and collaborating on large impactful projects.
- Experience with Python and Django or similar is an asset.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $185,000 to $220,000 CAD, determined by factors like work location, education, experience, skills, and knowledge. Eligible candidates also participate in Sentry’s benefits programs including incentives, equity, PTO, and health insurance.
