We’re on a mission to transform how companies use data. We’re hiring a Documentation Engineer to join our Product team. Our documentation is the initial point of contact for developers learning about ClickHouse; we need documentation that sets the standard for developer excellence. We are seeking a technical writer, ideally with an engineering background, who is passionate about crafting exceptional developer experiences and producing top-tier documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to clearly, concisely, and comprehensively convey ClickHouse features to developers with diverse experience levels.
  • Write documentation and guides for new features launched by engineering and product teams.
  • Proactively engage with the GitHub community to address and resolve documentation issues, including responding to requests for enhancements, fixing errata, and making necessary improvements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by refining and optimizing processes and style guides; collaborate cross-functionally to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create scripts and automation to keep documentation up-to-date.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience publishing technical content, documentation, or blog posts for an infrastructure or developer tools product.
  • Extensive experience working with databases, data warehouses, and SQL.
  • Strong English language writing skills and a passion for great developer experiences and products.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams, and with other technical writers or contractors.

Bonus Points

  • Basic scripting skills (JavaScript, Python).
  • Basic knowledge of modern full-stack web development technologies (React, Node.js, CSS).
  • Computer science or engineering degree (or related field).

Compensation

For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed below. In certain locations (San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area), a premium market range may apply.

  • Typical starting salary (US): $127,000 - $160,000 USD
  • Typical starting salary (US Premium Markets): $141,000 - $176,000 USD
