About the Role
Sentry's Event Streaming Platform is a critical technical pillar. It handles ingestion, processing, and routing of billions of events daily, powering real-time insights, automation, and alerting. As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a geographically distributed team, steering technical vision, team health, system reliability, and cross-functional collaboration. You will influence platform architecture, developer experience, and the broader engineering organization, working closely with infrastructure and product teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead a globally distributed team focused on foundational systems
- Mentor and grow engineers of various levels through coaching and career development
- Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture emphasizing ownership, learning, and delivery
- Drive evolution of the event streaming platform, owning key technical decisions
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to build scalable APIs and developer-friendly abstractions
- Ensure reliability, performance, and delivery of the roadmap while promoting technical excellence and collaboration
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, focusing on backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure
- 4+ years of engineering management experience, including leading teams of 10 or more
- Experience as Tech Lead or Engineering Manager overseeing architecture and evolution of large-scale, real-time event processing systems
- Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Beam, Spark Streaming, or similar
- Strong technical communication and cross-team collaboration skills
- Proven leadership in multi-year engineering efforts
- Ability to work across organizational boundaries and align priorities across product, infrastructure, and platform

Benefits
Salary range is $220,000 to $260,000 USD, depending on location, education, experience, skills, and knowledge. Eligible for company benefits including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and health insurance coverage. More details are available on Sentry Benefits.
