Senior Engineering Manager - Reliability Testing

Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company used by millions worldwide to monitor metrics, logs, and traces via Grafana, Mimir, Loki, and Tempo. The Senior Engineering Manager - Reliability Testing will lead two product-focused squads (Grafana Cloud k6 Frontend and k6 Studio) and help shape the future of Grafana Labs' reliability testing products.

Location

This is a remote position. We are considering candidates in Germany, Sweden, Spain and the United Kingdom only.

Role overview

You will manage and develop two distributed engineering teams responsible for delivering reliable, high-quality frontend and product experiences for reliability testing. You will partner with Product and Design, influence technical strategy, drive execution, and foster an environment where engineers grow and deliver impactful work.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop two distributed engineering squads (Grafana Cloud k6 Frontend and k6 Studio).
• Conduct regular 1:1s and career development sessions to guide engineers’ growth.
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture built on trust and continuous feedback.
• Partner with Product and Design to refine roadmaps and align technical priorities.
• Translate product goals into actionable engineering plans and iterative deliverables.
• Continuously improve cross-discipline collaboration, planning, and execution.
• Support hiring efforts and team capacity planning in collaboration with People Ops.
• Influence technical decisions and help teams make sound architectural and implementation choices.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with senior-level experience building web applications using JavaScript and React.
• Proven record of leading frontend or cross-functional teams at a senior level and building efficient, high-performing teams.
• Passion for developing people with experience in coaching, mentoring, and career development.
• Ability to wear multiple hats: define goals, shape product direction, and gather customer feedback.
• Experience partnering effectively with Product Management, Design, and cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding user experiences.
• Comfortable collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams that operate with autonomy and shared ownership.
• Strong communication skills, clarity, and empathy in a remote-first, multicultural environment.
• Ability to adapt to change and manage multiple parallel workstreams.

Bonus Points

• Experience with load and performance testing or observability products (as a customer or vendor).
• Full-stack experience building and deploying microservices with Kubernetes.
• Experience managing multiple engineering teams responsible for distinct products.
• Familiarity with k6 (used in Grafana Cloud k6 Frontend and k6 Studio).

Compensation & Benefits

• In Germany, the base compensation range for this role is EUR 120,000 - EUR 151,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
