Senior Engineering Manager - Reliability Testing

Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company building observability tooling used by millions worldwide. The team is scaling and seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead two product-focused squads (Grafana Cloud k6 Frontend and k6 Studio) and help shape the future of reliability testing products. This is a remote position; candidates are being considered in Germany, Sweden, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop two distributed engineering teams responsible for delivering reliable, high-quality software.
• Conduct regular 1:1s and career development sessions to guide engineers’ professional growth.
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture built on trust and continuous feedback.
• Partner with Product and Design to refine roadmaps, align technical priorities, and deliver great user experiences.
• Translate product goals into actionable engineering plans and iterative deliverables.
• Continuously improve how teams collaborate, plan, and execute across disciplines.
• Support hiring efforts and team capacity planning in collaboration with People Ops.
• Influence technical strategy, strengthen execution, and nurture an environment where engineers can grow and do their best work.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with senior-level experience building web applications with JavaScript and React.
• Proven record of leading frontend or cross-functional teams at a senior level, with experience building efficient, high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineers’ careers.
• Ability to partner effectively with Product Management and Design to deliver outstanding user experiences.
• Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams and operating in a remote-first, multicultural environment.
• Comfortable translating product goals into technical plans and adapting to change across multiple workstreams.

Bonus (nice-to-have)

• Experience with load and performance testing or observability products (as a customer or vendor).
• Full-stack experience building and deploying microservices with Kubernetes.
• Experience managing multiple engineering teams responsible for distinct products.

Compensation & Location

• In Spain, the base compensation range for this role is EUR 103,000 - EUR 129,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
• This is a remote position. Grafana Labs is considering candidates located in Germany, Sweden, Spain, and the United Kingdom only.
