Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company used by millions globally to monitor metrics, logs, and traces. The Field Engineering team enables the Presales Solution Engineering team by maintaining backend systems, demo kits, deployment tools, and by producing technical content and subject-matter expertise to help scale pre-sales activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Field Engineering infrastructure including the pre-sales Demo Kit application and infrastructure, custom demo applications, and deployment tools for workshops and custom engagements.
  • Implement and maintain operational dashboards and alerts for Field Engineering infrastructure.
  • Design, develop, and deliver compelling product demos to add to the demo kit library.
  • Create and deliver training materials and product workshops to Solution Engineers, customers, and the community.
  • Become a subject-matter expert on one or more Grafana products to assist the field with deep-dive technical meetings, strategic POVs, blogs, webinars, and more.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical experience serving as an SRE, Developer, Architect, and/or successful presales Solution Architect. Open-source selling experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience deploying, operating, and maintaining large-scale distributed, multi-region platforms in production.
  • Software engineering experience delivering at least one enterprise-grade product (design, implementation, code reviews, maintenance).
  • Deep hands-on proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including IAM, networking, compute, storage, and managed services; experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience designing and running high-availability and resilient systems (multi-AZ/region, redundancy, health checks), defining SLOs/SLIs, managing error budgets, and driving reliability roadmaps.
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment strategies (automated pipelines, canary/blue-green rollouts, safe rollbacks, feature flags).
  • Experience with performance and capacity topics: load testing, capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, and cost/performance optimization.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills: clear runbooks, design docs, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes.
  • Professional familiarity with observability platforms such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, Datadog, etc.
  • Experience building and delivering technical content for technical audiences (workshops, demos, decks, webinars, videos).

Compensation & Rewards

  • In the United States, the OTE (On-Target Earnings) compensation range for this role is $196,000 - $236,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process.
  • All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
  • Compensation ranges are country specific; candidates applying from other locations will discuss local market pay ranges with a recruiter.
