This role is a customer-facing PCIe firmware engineering position that sits between application/QA teams and the PCIe firmware design team. You will investigate and resolve field issues, collaborate with chip, software and architecture teams, and translate customer needs into product improvements.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, debug, and resolve complex PCIe firmware issues for key customers; act as a trusted technical expert.
- Collaborate across Chip Design, Software, and Architecture teams to identify root causes and develop robust long-term solutions.
- Translate customer feedback and field data into actionable recommendations that influence product development.
- Improve team processes and contribute to the internal knowledge base.
- Provide clear explanations of complex technical issues to both customers and engineering peers.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development with a deep understanding of PCIe.
- Strong foundation in computer architecture and operating systems.
- Proficiency with object-oriented programming concepts.
- Experience using scripting languages (Python, Bash) to automate tasks.
- Proactive, curious, and passionate about continuous learning and problem solving.
- Clear communication skills for interacting with customers and engineering teams.
Ways to stand out
- Previous customer-facing or application engineering experience.
- Direct experience with PCIe switch architecture and firmware.
- Knowledge of hardware verification concepts and tools (including C++, Jenkins).
- Expertise in networking protocols and the Linux operating system.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary ranges by level:
- Level 4: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD per year
- Level 5: 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD per year
- Eligible for equity and additional benefits (see NVIDIA benefits).
