Join us in revolutionizing Observability for Developers. HyperDX (now joining ClickHouse) is an open-source platform that transforms telemetry data into actionable insights by bringing logs, metrics, traces, and session replays together to pinpoint root causes faster. Weβre hiring a seasoned Front End Software Engineer to help build a petabyte-scale, high-performance observability platform with a laser focus on crafting an amazing developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Own and build key frontend features, focusing on frontend systems that streamline debugging and monitoring for developers.
- Engage with the open-source community and customers: collaborate with contributors, solve their challenges, and incorporate feedback into the roadmap.
- Tackle technical challenges to scale HyperDX to handle petabytes of observability data with high performance and enable advanced analysis tools for troubleshooting production issues.
- Lead projects from initial requirements gathering through production delivery.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of production experience creating externally-facing UIs and dashboards.
- Strong TypeScript skills; experience with Next.js for frontend and Express for backend work.
- Proficiency in React.
- Solid understanding of HTTP and HTTP-based APIs, including REST.
- Experience developing using Docker.
- Experience with open source and participating in developer communities.
- A creative problem-solving mindset and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A love for developer tooling and an eye for designing for developers (developer experience / DX).
- Ability to move fast, learn from mistakes, and operate with minimal interruptions.
Bonus
- Experience with SQL for modern databases (e.g., ClickHouse).
- Strong opinions and vision for observability tools and how to make them significantly better.
- Familiarity with additional languages like Rust or PHP for building integrations.
Compensation
For roles based in the United States, the posting lists typical starting salary ranges depending on location:
- New York Area / San Francisco Area: $139,000 - $209,500 USD
- General US Remote: $120,000 - $175,000 USD
- Los Angeles, CA / Washington, DC: $125,000 - $188,550 USD
