Airbnb's Client Media Foundation team builds infrastructural and user-facing product solutions for Airbnb’s media needs. The team works on projects ranging from Airbnb’s custom video player and Media SDK to motion animation, audio, and AI/ML integrations to enhance user experiences across Airbnb's web frontend products. The role focuses on developing and optimizing media solutions that deliver performant, scalable, and engaging media experiences for millions of hosts and guests.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine media-related features for Airbnb on the web, ensuring high-quality and performant user experiences.
• Work closely with engineers from product teams across Airbnb to understand productivity and feature pain points and build scalable, flexible media solutions.
• Partner with designers to provide and receive constructive feedback toward beautiful and performant media products.
• Continuously optimize and improve the performance and reliability of existing media infrastructure.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in web development and media processing.
• Mentor and guide team members in their career development, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Requirements

• 5–9+ years of experience in web or full-stack development with a strong focus on media-related technologies (media processing libraries/frameworks, media players, formats, codecs, and media encoding/compression best practices).
• Strong expertise building and maintaining high-performance and scalable web frontend experiences using React and TypeScript.
• Experience with Signals, HTML, and CSS for building frontend applications.
• Experience or familiarity with media SDKs, custom video players, motion animation, and audio on web platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills; experience improving performance and reliability of media infrastructure.
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities; experience working effectively with cross-functional teams (web, native, backend, design, product).
• Curiosity and a desire to learn new technologies and approaches, including AI/ML integrations for media enhancements.

Benefits

• Base pay range: $191,000 — $223,000 USD (actual base pay depends on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands).
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Location & Work Arrangement

• This position is US — Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
