Details

Airbnb's Internationalization Infrastructure (i18n) team provides globalization infrastructure and tooling for Airbnb code, content, and stakeholders. The team focuses on reliability, efficiency, scalability, and extensibility to deliver the best localization experience for guests and hosts worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Build intuitive workflows and tools to serve stakeholders, business partners, and end users.
  • Enable internationalization infrastructure to scale cost-efficiently.
  • Work cross-functionally with partners in Globalization, Data Science, user-facing product teams, platform teams, and external vendors.
  • Build scalable systems supporting high-scale real-time translation requests and efficient retrieval of translated content.
  • Contribute to and learn industry best practices on internationalization while improving teammates' productivity.

Requirements

  • 5-9+ years of industry experience; BS/Masters in Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming skills for hands-on IC work, particularly in back-end server languages (Java, Kotlin, C++ or equivalent).
  • Experience building, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale backend systems, APIs, and databases within a large-scale service-oriented architecture.
  • Exposure to architectural patterns of high-scale web applications, including well-designed APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
  • Frontend experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript / TypeScript, and modern JS libraries and tooling (e.g., React and GraphQL).
  • Experience or desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, and data science partners.
  • Passion for globalization, user experience, efficiency, availability, and system quality.

Location & Work Model

  • This position is US - Remote Eligible. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be expected as agreed with your manager.
  • Candidates must live in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states excluded).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $191,000 — $225,000 USD (actual pay dependent on experience, skills, and market factors).
  • This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
