Details

Airbnb's DLS Foundation team owns the Design Language System (DLS) building blocks, layouts, visual foundations, and UI capabilities used across client platforms. As a Senior iOS Engineer on this cross-platform UI Foundation team, you will expand DLS building blocks, build UI frameworks and utilities, and support product launches by embedding into product initiatives. You will partner closely with Product Engineering, Design, and Product teams and work alongside Android and Web engineers to deliver shared objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Enable iOS engineers at Airbnb to build the best user experiences with DLS building blocks and UI frameworks (e.g., SwiftUI, UIKit)
  • Evolve DLS for flexibility, practicality, and long-term scalability
  • Drive investments into new technical capabilities that unlock product innovation
  • Identify design and engineering product development pain points and improve development efficiency
  • Work with Android and Frontend Web counterparts to deliver on shared objectives
  • Support product engineers through community events, training materials, workshops, and codelabs
  • Contribute to the team’s technical strategy and technology choices that scale with product and design ambitions
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to peers and ICs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience developing consumer iOS applications and design systems at scale
  • Expertise in Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI
  • Strong track record of leading projects end-to-end with cross-functional collaboration (Product, Design)
  • Passion for UI and motion animation development with attention to detail
  • Experience with design tools (e.g., Figma) is a plus
  • Experience or involvement in accessibility, UI tooling, motion, and haptics is desirable
  • Ability to work across product development lifecycle from conceptualization to launch
  • This position is US - Remote Eligible. You must live in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; occasional office attendance or offsites may be required per manager agreement

Benefits

  • Base pay range: $191,000 — $223,000 USD (actual base pay dependent on experience and other factors)
