Senior Machine Learning Engineer - (Platform)

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the Platform team, you will help build an onchain platform and apply ML across fraud detection, recommendations, chatbots, risk assessment, blockchain analytics, and other areas to protect and improve the user experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and apply cutting-edge machine learning methodologies, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and graph neural networks, to solve problems across the company (fraud detection, feed ranking, recommendation systems, targeting, chatbots, blockchain mining, etc.).
• Develop and deploy robust, low-maintenance applied ML solutions in production at scale.
• Create onboarding codelabs, tools, and ML infrastructure to democratize access to ML resources across Coinbase and enable broad ML usage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into product workflows and production systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years industry experience in machine learning.
• MS degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Statistics, or a related technical field.
• Strong experience with at least one ML model family: deep neural networks (DNNs), graph neural networks (GNNs), reinforcement learning, gradient boosting trees, logistic regression, etc.
• Solid working knowledge in one or more of: data mining, information retrieval, advanced statistics, natural language processing (NLP), or computer vision.
• Experience building and deploying production ML systems at scale (production ML/ML engineering experience).

Nice to haves

• PhD degree (strongly preferred) with 3+ years relevant experience.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization.
• Prior experience or familiarity with blockchain/crypto and onchain data (answers to crypto-related questions may be used to evaluate onchain experience).

Pay Transparency

• Pay Range: $186,065 — $218,900 USD (target annual salary shown; full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits).
