At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. We are seeking a Senior Manager to build and lead the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Team reporting to the Head of Security Operations. You will establish the long-term vision and strategy for the DLP program, mature the program from the ground up, implement next‑gen technologies, and build scalable processes to rapidly detect, manage, and contain data security incidents. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional leaders across Information Security, and in-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually).
Responsibilities
- Lead and expand data loss prevention capabilities to protect the Coinbase ecosystem from sophisticated data security incidents.
 - Establish the vision and strategy for the Data Loss Prevention program and drive its long-term roadmap.
 - Evaluate and direct complex designs/controls across a decentralized tech environment to promote security without impeding business speed.
 - Oversee and provide technical mentorship for implementation and deployment of DLP tools and technologies in concert with cross-functional teams (endpoint security, IT, etc.).
 - Enhance operational efficiency across DLP engineering and operations leveraging LLMs and agentic AI.
 - Champion an automation-first mindset to build a streamlined, scalable approach to DLP operations.
 - Advise the CISO and senior leadership on emerging data protection threats targeting the crypto ecosystem.
 - Produce quantitative and qualitative metrics to inform leaders of program impact and challenges.
 - Collaborate across Security and Privacy teams and lead cross-functional data protection initiatives.
 - Work with risk teams to measure control effectiveness and address changes in laws/regulations globally.
 
Requirements
- Proven experience as a team leader delivering measurable results in security programs.
 - Experience leading enterprise-wide DLP programs at scale; hands-on with testing, tuning, and implementing DLP controls across multiple OS stacks.
 - Technical acumen to solve operational issues with engineering solutions and to automate controls where possible.
 - Comfortable manipulating and orchestrating controls across diverse platforms and decentralized datasets (the posting references multiple OS stacks and examples such as iOS / Chrome).
 - Experience leveraging ML/AI (including LLMs/agentic AI) to improve operational efficiency is expected.
 - Familiarity with Insider Threat technologies and concepts (SIEM, User Behavioral Analytics / UBA, DLP) and an understanding of investigations and/or the intelligence cycle.
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to compose briefs and assessments consumed by leadership.
 - Discretion and the ability to work cross-functionally to mitigate risk; experience leading remote teams across multiple time zones.
 - Business acumen: understanding of business dynamics, goals, and product strategy, and how security fits into overall business priorities.
 - Ability to balance business needs, urgency, conflicting constraints, and delivering high-quality pragmatic solutions in a fast-moving, growing company.
 
Nice to haves
- ~10 years of experience managing and leading enterprise-wide DLP programs.
 - Track record of solving operational problems with an engineering / automation-first mindset.
 - Experience in Web3, crypto-forward organizations, or traditional financial institutions.
 
Benefits & Pay
- Target annual salary range: $260,100 CAD.
