Role overview

As a Senior Manager of Field Engineering, you will build and lead a global team of Field Engineers who act as solution SMEs and accelerate customers' path to technical wins. You will partner closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to influence product roadmap, maintain demo environments, create and scale workshops and enablement content, and support enterprise deal motions.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, ramp, mentor, and grow a diverse, high-performing Field Engineering team.
  • Coach individuals with a focus on performance development and people management.
  • Balance team workload across account engagement, project development/maintenance, engineering collaboration, competitive intelligence, conferences, and enablement.
  • Own planning, execution, and outcomes for your team, reporting on quarterly cadence and KPIs.
  • Partner with Sales leadership on top-of-funnel programs, marketing initiatives, and events to drive product adoption and brand awareness.
  • Maintain and coordinate requirements for demo and proof environments with Solutions Engineering.
  • Create and maintain workshops and collateral to enable customer adoption strategies.
  • Influence Product and Engineering roadmaps by bringing field feedback and customer requirements.
  • Support technical evaluations including discovery, demonstrations, stakeholder interviews, workshops, technical validation, POVs, and Mutual Account Plans.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in the high-tech industry in roles such as Developer, Sales Engineer/Architect, SRE, Manager, or similar.
  • 5+ years of people management experience within a sales organization.
  • Proven experience mentoring, developing people, and managing performance over time.
  • Direct experience selling monitoring, data, or data-visualization products.
  • Experience with open-source selling or cloud-first / product-led go-to-market motions is a plus.
  • Direct experience implementing and executing formal sales methodologies (e.g., Command of the Message) and qualification frameworks like MEDDPICC.
  • Experience with complex, enterprise sales motions.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (IaC, CI/CD, GitHub Actions) is a plus.

Compensation & rewards

  • United States OTE (On-Target Earnings) range: $253,000 - $303,000 (actual compensation may vary by level, experience, and skillset).
  • Roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) as part of total compensation.
