Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company with a global user base for Grafana and related observability projects. The Senior Manager, Field Engineering will build and manage a high-performing Field Engineering team that acts as solution SMEs for Grafana, accelerating and scaling the path to technical wins across customers. This role partners with Sales leadership, Solutions Engineering, Product Management, Engineering and Marketing to drive GTM execution, customer adoption programs, demo environment requirements, workshops, and technical validation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Attract, recruit, ramp and mentor a diverse team of Field Engineers.
- Coach and develop team members with an individual coaching mindset and manage performance over time.
- Balance team workload across account engagement, project development/maintenance, engineering engagement, competitive intelligence, conferences and enablement.
- Own planning, actions and outcomes for the Field Engineering team based on leadership goals.
- Serve as a culture carrier who values teamwork, collaboration and getting to the right answer.
- Partner with Sales leadership on top-of-funnel programs, marketing initiatives and community/company events.
- Understand key customer adoption strategies and develop programs and collateral to enable customer success with Grafana technologies.
- Work with Solutions Engineering to define and maintain comprehensive demo environments and with marketing to leverage workshops and collateral.
- Influence Product and Engineering roadmaps with field feedback to ensure product delivers customer value.
- Report on quarterly cadence of team activities that support prospect evaluation: discovery, demonstrations, stakeholder interviews, workshops, technical validation, POVs and Mutual Account Plans.
Requirements
- 10+ years in the high-tech industry in roles such as Developer, Sales Engineer/Architect, SRE, Manager, etc.
- 5+ years of people management experience in a sales organization with direct experience mentoring, developing people and managing performance.
- Direct experience selling monitoring, data or visualization products; experience with open source-selling or cloud-first/product-led go-to-market is a plus.
- Experience with complex, enterprise sales and formal sales methodologies (examples given: Command of the Message, MEDDPICC).
- Experience in DevOps practices (IaC, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to partner with Sales, Product Management, Engineering and Marketing.
Compensation (Netherlands)
- OTE compensation range for this role in the Netherlands: EUR 151,000 - EUR 181,000 (country-specific; actual compensation may vary by level, experience and skillset).
