We are looking for a seasoned Senior Engineering Manager to lead and scale a highly skilled team responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers Collibra production and developer environments at scale. The role focuses on virtualized and containerized environments (primarily Kubernetes), core messaging and eventing tools (e.g., RabbitMQ, Pulsar), and shared platform services such as Elasticsearch. This position is remote on the East Coast of the United States and requires the candidate to be a U.S. citizen residing on U.S. soil. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
- Provide architectural leadership for large-scale, distributed systems, ensuring infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Drive the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of cloud-based infrastructure, focusing on containers (Kubernetes) and virtual machine environments.
- Lead the design and implementation of cloud networking solutions for production and development environments, ensuring scalability, high availability, and security across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
- Drive adoption of GitOps practices across infrastructure and development teams, using ArgoCD to automate Kubernetes application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
- Oversee architecture and management of messaging and eventing systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Pulsar) to enable robust, scalable communication across microservices and distributed applications.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, developer productivity, and collaboration across engineering teams.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role overseeing teams focused on infrastructure, SRE, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
- Proven expertise managing large-scale, distributed infrastructure systems, including containerized environments (primarily Kubernetes), virtual machines, and cloud services (AWS, GCP).
- Expertise in cloud networking: VPCs, DNS, routing, security groups, VPNs, load balancing, and inter-cloud connectivity.
- Experience with Istio and service mesh technologies, including traffic management, observability, mTLS, and security features.
- Proficiency in infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps principles for automating Kubernetes-based deployments and managing infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Deep experience with messaging and event-driven architectures, including tools like RabbitMQ, Apache Pulsar, or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related working experience is required.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Because this role supports the U.S. government, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen who resides on U.S. soil.
You Are
- An excellent leader with a track record of managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- A strong communicator, capable of presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and making data-driven decisions.
- Highly motivated, result-oriented, and data-driven with a strong commitment to delivery.
- An advocate for developer needs, ensuring they have the right tools, environments, and infrastructure to accelerate software delivery.
- Collaborative with other engineering leaders to define long-term infrastructure strategy aligned with company goals.
Compensation
- Standard base salary range: $184,000 - $230,000 per year.
- Position is not eligible for additional commission-based compensation.
- Salary offers are based on experience, skills, and location.
- In addition to base salary: equity ownership, bonus potential, monthly Flex Fund stipend, pension/401(k) plans, and more.
