We are looking for experienced software professionals to lead and extend work on the CUDA driver, a core component of our platform for accelerating general purpose computation on the GPU. The team delivers features and improvements to better realize the potential of NVIDIA hardware for computational workloads including deep learning, scientific computation, self-driving cars, video games, and virtual reality.
CUDA defines a unified programming model across a range of system configurations and hardware capabilities. The CUDA driver interacts with GPU hardware, kernel mode drivers, switches, and the operating system. As a member of the team you will use design abilities, coding expertise, and creativity to deliver the Compute platform. You will craft elegant solutions and help shape the future direction of CUDA while collaborating across NVIDIA.
Responsibilities
- Evangelize, architect, and implement new CUDA features using leadership, design, and coding skills.
- Work closely with Product Management and Program Management to collect requirements and contribute to roadmaps.
- Oversee and drive development efforts across multiple teams.
- Collaborate with hardware architecture teams.
- Understand and address challenges in developing and deploying improvements to CUDA APIs and the programming model.
- Design and maintain performance and precision modeling.
- Write effective, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Develop code for multiple operating systems.
Requirements
- BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 12+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent academic experience after BS.
- 3+ years of experience recruiting, training, and leading software engineering teams.
- Strong C programming skills.
- Experience designing, debugging, and maintaining complex software stacks.
- Background with operating system interfaces for threads, process control, and virtual memory.
- Experience with HW/SW co-design and performance modeling using emulation/simulation; creating software programming model exposures for hardware features.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to achieve objectives under tight deadlines.
- Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to guide and influence within a dynamic matrix environment.
Ways to stand out
- Deep understanding of system-level architecture (interconnects, memory hierarchy, interrupts, memory-mapped IO).
- Experience designing and implementing drivers that program rich hardware acceleration engines and creating software verification test plans.
- Knowledge of CPU and GPU architectures, memory coherence and consistency models.
- Some familiarity with kernel mode development.
- Some background with C++.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: 272,000 USD - 425,500 USD (determined based on location, experience, and pay of employees in similar positions).
- You will also be eligible for equity and benefits (see linked NVIDIA benefits page).
Other details
- Applications for this job will be accepted at least until December 21, 2025.
