Details

We are looking for software engineers to join math libraries teams focused on AI and HPC kernel generation, specifically targeting emulation of math operations across different precisions on GPUs. The team develops GPU-accelerated math libraries used across AI, scientific and engineering simulations, data analytics, healthcare, NLP, VR, autonomous vehicles and other domains.

Responsibilities

  • Scope, design, and implement high-quality, high-performance numerical dense linear algebra software on GPUs.
  • Provide technical leadership and feedback to library engineers and mentor interns when needed.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and internal/external customers to understand feature and performance requirements and help define technical roadmaps for libraries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve library performance and reduce maintenance overhead through re-architecting and optimization.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, or related science/engineering field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and optimizing production software using CUDA and C++.
  • Strong fundamentals in finite precision arithmetic and numerical methods for linear algebra.
  • Good knowledge of GPU (preferred) or CPU hardware architecture.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation habits.

Ways to stand out

  • Experience with CUTLASS or low-level programming (assembly) for performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with a scripting language, preferably Python.
  • Experience working in globally distributed teams.

Company and role context

NVIDIA is the inventor of the GPU and a leader in AI computing. The team develops GPU-accelerated math libraries that power modern AI and HPC workloads. The role is part of an exclusive, rapidly growing engineering organization focused on high-performance numerical software.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranges by level (location and experience dependent):
    • Level 4: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD
    • Level 5: 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD
  • Eligible for equity and benefits (link to benefits provided in original posting).

Additional information

  • Employment type: Full time
  • Office indicator: #LI-Hybrid
  • Applications accepted at least until September 7, 2025
  • NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
