Details

We are looking for a Senior .NET/C# Engineer to help design and implement scalable, reliable, high-performance back-end solutions for the VPP Core Domain — a critical system responsible for the management and monitoring of essential energy assets. You will work on mission-critical Dutch infrastructure and contribute to event-driven, distributed, cloud-native systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable back-end systems using .NET and C# with well-known design patterns and robust, resilient, secure, and well-tested code
  • Design and implement event-driven architectures leveraging messaging systems
  • Take a lead role in team code reviews and contribute actively to team software and solution architecture
  • Mentor peers and improve development processes when needed
  • Improve observability by developing service metrics to indicate health and performance of services
  • Ensure system reliability and performance in distributed, cloud-native and hybrid cloud / on-premises environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and product managers to deliver mission-critical solutions

Requirements

  • At least 7 years' experience in complex, distributed, scalable backend application design and development
  • Strong expertise in building robust, high-performance applications with .NET and C#
  • Proficiency with Azure and cloud-native design patterns for scalable, resilient deployment
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
  • Experience building with SQL and No‑SQL databases (MongoDB / Cosmos DB)
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, Event Hubs, or RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication
  • Proven experience implementing architecture patterns and driving architectural decision making, taking cost, performance, scale and features into account
  • Exposure to front-end frameworks such as Vue.js is a plus (optional)

  • Gross annual salary between €85,000 and €120,000 (including FlexBudget and 8% holiday allowance; depending on role a bonus or collective profit sharing may apply)
