This role pioneers a post-sales technical partnership function — the Observability Architect — responsible for driving customer observability maturity, adoption, expansion, and value realization across a portfolio of customers. The role requires deep technical understanding, strong customer-facing skills, and the ability to act as the customer's technical advocate internally.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for a portfolio of Grafana customers.
- Design and guide customers through their observability maturity journey.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting, guidance, and assist in root cause analysis (RCA).
- Conduct regular technical reviews and health checks to ensure client success.
- Advise clients on best practices and strategies for leveraging Grafana products to achieve business goals.
- Collaborate with clients to develop and execute technical roadmaps.
- Identify opportunities to optimize cost, expand usage, and drive adoption of new products/features.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
- Own the customer lifecycle with support from Engagement Managers and Onboarding Solutions Architects.
- Act as the voice of the customer to Product Management and Engineering; advocate for customer needs and feature requests.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops; develop and deliver technical documentation, guides, and tutorials.
- Work alongside account teams to present regular reviews, calculate ROI, assess satisfaction, and discuss upcoming needs/projects.
- Prepare and present reports on client metrics, achievements, and areas of focus.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical sales, Technical Account Management (TAM), or other post-sales technical experience, ideally with open source technologies or in the observability space.
- Experience deploying and operating Kubernetes.
- Observability expertise, preferably at an architect level.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills; ability to proactively assist customers and provide timely workarounds/solutions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for collaborating with remote internal teams and worldwide customers.
- Ability to connect product usage to value (ROI) and manage customer lifecycle.
- Creative problem solving to overcome customer adoption challenges.
- Desire to grow technically; candidates with recent coding bootcamp graduation or prior post-sales/engineering experience are welcome.
Bonus
- Strong understanding of observability solutions; experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
Compensation & Rewards
- UK OTE (On-Target Earnings) range for this role: £108,000 - £130,000. Actual compensation may vary by level, experience, and skillset.
- Roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
- Compensation ranges are country specific; recruiters will discuss local pay ranges for applicants from other locations.
