Intelligent machines powered by Artificial Intelligence computers that can learn, reason and interact with people are no longer science fiction. GPU Deep Learning has provided the foundation for machines to learn, perceive, reason and solve problems. NVIDIA’s GPU runs Deep Learning algorithms, simulating human intelligence, and acts as the brain of computers, robots and self-driving cars that can perceive and understand the world.
We are looking for an extraordinary Senior Perception Engineer to develop and productize NVIDIA’s autonomous driving solutions. As a member of the perception team, you will drive end-to-end solutions for components of Wait Condition Perception and fine-grained recognition tasks. You will be challenged to improve robustness, accuracy, and efficiency of solutions to fully enable autonomous driving anywhere and anytime.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end solutions for perception and the AV stack to enable wait-condition and fine-grained classification tasks in complex driving environments. Example perception signals include traffic lights, traffic signs, roadmarks, text, dynamic object classes, and vehicle light signals (brake, turn, hazard, etc.).
- Conduct applied research and development of innovative deep learning models.
- Develop localization and tracking algorithms to improve detection and classification accuracy under challenging and diverse scenarios.
- Develop generalizable approaches to support ODD (operational design domain) and country/region expansion.
- Productize perception solutions to meet product requirements for safety, latency, and software robustness.
- Drive and prioritize data-driven development by working with large data collection and labeling teams: data collection prioritization and planning, labeling prioritization, and labeling efficiency optimization to maximize data value.
Requirements
- 2+ years of technical leadership demonstrating high technical and organizational complexity.
- 12+ years of hands-on experience developing deep learning and algorithms to solve sophisticated real-world problems; proficiency with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
- Experience in data-driven development and collaboration with data/ground-truth teams.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work in a tightly-knit team and learn from peers.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, sciences, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
Ways to stand out
- Proven expertise in developing perception solutions for autonomous driving or robotics using deep learning with cameras.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying DNN-based solutions to embedded platforms for real-time applications.
- Technical publications in leading conferences/journals demonstrating deep learning expertise.
- Good understanding of fundamentals of 3D computer vision and camera calibration (intrinsic and extrinsic).
- Experience with development in CUDA and the ability to implement CUDA kernels as part of training or inference pipelines.
Benefits
- Base salary range: 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD (determined by location, experience, and compensation of similar roles).
- Eligible for equity and company benefits (referenced benefits page).
Additional information
- Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States.
- Employment type: Full time.
- Applications accepted at least until July 29, 2025.
- NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse work environment.
