Details

At Eneco, our One Planet strategy drives our mission to become climate neutral by 2035. We develop smart digital solutions and use innovative technologies to accelerate the energy transition. Our VPP teams support this ambition by building tools that enable efficient energy trading and real-time operations.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will further develop and maintain our Mission Critical hybrid platform in collaboration with our third-party partners and support and enable the teams using the platform. You will design and implement self-service capabilities for our teams, as well as improve the platform from the perspectives of security, resilience and observability. You will also mentor junior engineers and promote the DevSecOps way of working within Eneco.

Is this about you?

You are an independent problem-solver with a passion for building reliable, automated, easy-to-use systems. You have operational experience and are able to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly. You can take ownership of finding the solution to a problem and see it all the way through to implementation. You take a pro-active approach, spotting issues before they arise and resolving them. You care about developer experience but can also keep in mind the big picture and compare requests to our overall vision to find the correct solution.

Key requirements listed in the vacancy:

  • 3–5 years of experience in platform engineering or site reliability engineering within digital product organizations.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure), hybrid platforms, networking, and operational best practices.
  • Proven experience with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes (we primarily use OpenShift), Terraform and GitOps (we use ArgoCD).
  • Ability to design, align and document platform architecture.
  • Basic scripting ability with Python and/or bash.
  • Based in the Netherlands and fluent in English.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience running Mission Critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the energy sector.
  • Specialism in security in hybrid platforms.
  • Specialism in networking in hybrid platforms.

Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain secure, resilient cloud infrastructure.
  • Creation of building blocks (CI/CD, IaC) for use by application teams.
  • Ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability of solutions.
  • Defining and maintaining basic SLOs and SLIs, contributing to incident analysis to reduce MTTR.
  • Ensuring full observability of our platform and the applications running on it.
  • Mentoring junior engineers through code reviews and pair programming sessions.
  • Working with our third-party partners to ensure a reliable, usable platform.
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, and product managers.
  • Stay current with modern development practices.

Where you’ll work

You’ll join the Trade Tech Platform Engineering, contributing to run the platforms that host some of Eneco’s most critical applications and help define how digital platforms shape Eneco’s sustainable future. The role is based in the Netherlands (Rotterdam).

Benefits

  • Gross annual salary between €85.000 and €120.000 (including FlexBudget, 8% holiday allowance, and depending on your role a bonus or collective profit sharing).
  • FlexBudget: have it paid out, use it to buy extra holiday days or save it up.
  • Personal and professional growth support.
  • Hybrid working: you work ~40% at the office and ~40% at home; the other day you decide what works best for you.
