Role overview

Our Audit and Advisory team is committed to innovation and excellence. We provide a variety of services to our business partners and technologists to help ensure Airbnb’s data management and governance practices align with our organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. Our activities are designed to add value, improve the Company’s operations and provide insights to the executive team and the Audit Committee.

You will join as a Senior Principal, Data Governance Audit & Advisory Services, providing strategic insights and solutions to enhance our data capabilities, support business objectives and drive risk reduction efforts. The role has a strong focus on data governance, data management and cloud computing (particularly Amazon S3) and supports audit and advisory activities across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide advisory services on data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, compliance with regulations, and best practices in data management.
  • Oversee and enhance tools used for audit and advisory work related to data governance, drive the dynamic audit identification process, and create audit plans focused on data governance.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including business and technology partners, to evaluate data needs, support robust data architecture, and align with strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver enterprise-wide training on data governance, collaborating with other disciplines such as Enterprise Risk, Global Compliance Services, and Data & Analytics to maintain departmental alignment.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies to improve data solutions and practices, and work on ad hoc projects as required.
  • Ensure cohesive execution of projects by collaborating with third-party resources and subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of data governance, consulting, or relevant experience, with 5+ years in managerial or project management roles.
  • Proven experience as a Data Solutions Architect, in Data Governance, or leading consulting or internal audit engagements focused on data governance.
  • Strong understanding of AWS S3 and cloud computing technologies.
  • Experience in data modeling and data warehousing.
  • Experience auditing or advising on developing and enhancing data governance tools and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (for example, GDPR and CCPA).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders globally and communicate complex data concepts to non-technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong time management and prioritization skills; proactive and creative problem-solving skills; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Location and Work Model

  • This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
  • You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states are excluded).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $188,000 — $235,000 USD (base pay may vary depending on training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands).
  • This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
