About the Role
Sentry is seeking a highly technical, developer-focused Senior Product Designer to join the team in Toronto. This role is focused on designing experiences that help developers ship higher quality and more performant apps with confidence. The role requires a deep understanding of common developer workflows and collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other designers.
This role is aimed at designers with strong domain experience who can discuss frontend and backend concerns and contribute to design and engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design core improvements to major and popular parts of Sentry.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and a tight-knit group of designers; participate in regular design reviews and critique.
- Contribute to the component library and design documentation.
- Improve developer efficiency by maximizing signal and limiting noise in product experiences.
- Create and maintain a consistent look and feel across products.
- Define systems and processes to enable design and frontend teams to work more efficiently and collaboratively.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience (a link to a portfolio or relevant work is required).
- Frontend experience with HTML/CSS and an understanding of web design principles.
- Strong visual design skills and attention to detail.
- Experience conducting user interviews and interpreting findings.
- Expert with Figma or other modern design tools.
- Ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive experiences.
- Deep understanding of developer workflows and developer-focused tooling; ability to communicate effectively with engineers.
Bonus / Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like React or templating engines.
- Active GitHub profile and/or open-source contributions.
- Experience with SVG, especially for data visualization.
- Experience using version control (e.g., Git).
- Experience designing and building tools as part of a small team.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this role is $140,000 CAD to $180,000 CAD. Final compensation will depend on factors including location, skills, experience, and role alignment.
