Details

Join the NVIDIA Autonomous Vehicles (AV) team and help shape the future of driving. The environment in our team is hands-on, passionate about practical results, and values diversity. We are seeking a skilled and experienced research engineer and tech lead for the development of novel machine-learning (ML) based search solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning / artificial intelligence (AI) and software engineering as well as large-scale retrieval systems. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving methods and systems that use the latest state-of-the-art models to find "the needle in the haystack" in our large pool of recorded data. Your work will require effective collaboration with diverse international teams, spanning research, perception and planning groups, as well as system and cloud infrastructure divisions. Our true motivation and measure of success is building new solutions that achieve widespread use in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and applying state-of-the art machine-learning methods for searching in AV data, e.g., to identify driving scenarios from natural language input by using vision language models.
  • Building, training and evaluating multi-modal models on our large quantity of videos and related metadata to enable precise searches.
  • Taking ownership for the efficient design and leading the implementation of ML-based search methods to bring them to production.
  • Communicating and collaborating with our research and production teams to identify and develop novel approaches.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and ensuring a high software quality standard.

Requirements

  • MS or higher or equivalent experience in computer engineering, computer science or related fields.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience showing both technical depth and breadth.
  • Strong background and proven experience in machine learning, specifically deep learning, computer vision, and robotics or autonomous vehicles.
  • Excellent software engineering skills in Python or C/C++ with experience working in and leading large software development projects.
  • Evidence that you can seek solutions for hard unsolved problems and build working systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, hands-on mentality and a great teammate.

Ways to Stand Out

  • Experience with current state-of-the art approaches for large-scale retrieval problems with images, videos or structured data, e.g., using multi-modal or generative models especially for AV.
  • Experience with developing autonomous vehicles in, e.g., perception or planning and control.
  • Publications at international relevant conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ICML etc.)
