The Future of Computing is an Applied Research team focused on prototyping and exploring how consumer computing might holistically evolve as we advance on our mission of building AGI. As a Research Engineer on the Future of Computing team, you will work with research scientists and design talent to push the frontier of model capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a research background and experience shipping AI products with models in compute-constrained environments.

Responsibilities

  • Train and evaluate multimodal state-of-the-art (SoTA) models along axes important to the team's explorations.
  • Prototype and iterate on nascent research capabilities and turn them into capabilities that can be built on top of.
  • Run through engineering and research challenges required to productize research ideas in compute-constrained environments.
  • Collaborate closely with research scientists and designers to push model capabilities and product directions.

Requirements

  • Research background (experience working with research scientists and producing rigorous experiments).
  • Experience shipping AI products, particularly with models targeted at compute-constrained environments.
  • Experience working with compute-constrained hardware for inference.
  • Strong experimental design and rigorous scientific approach to evaluation and validation of model capabilities.
  • Comfortable with rapid prototyping and cross-functional collaboration between research and design.

Compensation

  • Listed compensation range: $460K - $555K (base pay may vary depending on location, experience, and other factors). The role also offers equity and additional compensation components as described by the employer.
