Details

We are recruiting a Senior Research Scientist to join the Autonomous Vehicle Research group focused on fundamental and applied research toward full vehicle autonomy. The team works on agent behavior models, end-to-end AV architectures, AI safety, closed-loop training approaches, and AV foundation models (VLMs, reasoning models). Lab members are encouraged to publish and open-source work while collaborating closely with product teams to transfer research into production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cutting-edge techniques in vehicle autonomy.
  • Publish and present original research at conferences and events.
  • Collaborate with research team members, internal product teams, and external researchers.
  • Transfer or open-source developed technology and collaborate with product teams to integrate research into high-end, production systems.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of relevant research experience in vehicle or robot autonomy.
  • Strong knowledge of theory and practice of vehicle/robot autonomy, or related area with interest in applying work to autonomous vehicles.
  • Track record of research excellence with publications in top conferences/journals (e.g., RSS, ICRA, IJRR, NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, TAC) and related research artifacts such as software projects.
  • Exceptional programming skills in Python; strong skills in C++ and parallel programming (e.g., CUDA).
  • Solid understanding of common machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Experience or strong interest in topics including: agent behavior modeling, end-to-end AV architectures, AI safety, closed-loop training approaches (simulation-to-closed-loop training), and AV foundation models (VLMs, reasoning models).
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a dynamic, research-focused team.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranges (determined by location, experience, and pay of similar employees):
    • Level 4: 184,000 USD - 299,000 USD
    • Level 5: 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD
  • Eligible for equity and company benefits.

Additional Information

  • Applications accepted at least until October 11, 2025.
  • NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in its workforce.
