Details

NVIDIA is at the forefront of the AI and robotics revolution. The Seattle Robotics Lab is focused on fundamental and applied robotics research across the full robotics stack, including perception, planning, control, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and simulation. This research transforms paradigms, transfers into NVIDIA’s robotics and simulation products, and creates new robotics markets.

The lab has produced influential work presented at top robotics, AI, and computer vision conferences and deeply impacted NVIDIA products such as Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, and Isaac Manipulator. They collaborate closely with teams advancing foundation models and physics simulation engines, targeting groundbreaking robotics capabilities in the coming years.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms, models, and methods for robotic manipulation and loco-manipulation for industrial and household applications.
  • Integrate these methods into real-world robotic systems, including collaborative robot arms, industrial robot arms, mobile manipulators, humanoids, and dexterous hands.
  • Co-lead and contribute to multi-person research projects across the robotics and machine learning stack.
  • Engage with the academic community through high-impact publications, conferences, workshops, and code releases.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to transfer research into impactful NVIDIA products.
  • Mentor interns and junior research scientists and engineers.

Requirements

  • PhD in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with at least 3 years post-PhD research experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of robotics and AI theory and practice with interest in real-world applications.
  • Proven track record with publications in top robotics and AI venues such as RSS, CoRL, ICRA, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, and others.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, capable as both leader and contributor.
  • Exceptional programming skills in Python; familiarity with C++, CUDA, and Warp is a plus.
  • Fluency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and JAX, and robotics frameworks such as ROS2 and physics simulation frameworks including Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, and MuJoCo.
  • Comfortable working with physics simulators, robotics hardware, communication systems, and designing robust workflows for training and evaluation.

Ways to Stand Out

  • Experience collaborating with product managers and engineering teams to transfer research into products.
  • History of mentoring junior researchers, engineers, and interns.
  • Experience with bimanual and dexterous manipulation, mobile and humanoid loco-manipulation, multisensory perception, sim-to-real and real-to-sim simulation, vision-language-action models, and industrial applications such as bin-picking and assembly.

Benefits

  • Base salary range: 184,000 USD - 356,500 USD, determined by location, experience, and pay of similar roles.
  • Eligibility for equity and benefits.
  • Ongoing application process.
  • Commitment to a diverse and equal opportunity work environment.
