To achieve our mission, Coinbase is seeking senior backend engineers to join teams within the Platform Product Group. The Platform Product Group’s mission is to build a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform to maximize velocity, efficiency and quality. Engineers will work on foundations used by multiple products and teams so users have a consistent and high-quality experience. You will build the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, solving large-scale, highly complex technical problems that bridge web-scale application constraints and blockchain technology. You will operate real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates, and manage secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang.
• Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
• Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams running them.
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining production services and composing a service oriented architecture.
• Ability to write high quality, well tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system.

Nice to haves

• Experience with rapid company growth (startup to mid-size).
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Experience with blockchain technology (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
• Experience building financial, high reliability or security systems.
• Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Location & Working Model

• Remote-first role with in-person participation required throughout the year for team and company offsites. (Role is tagged #LI-Remote.)

Compensation

• Pay Range: $191,000 — $191,000 CAD (full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits including medical, dental, and vision).
