The Growth organization focuses on bringing the world onchain by building referral and incentives programs, a world-class notifications system, a dynamic logged-out web experience, and optimized new user onboarding.

This role is remote-first but not remote-only — in-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company offsites are held multiple times annually). Attendance is expected and supported.

Pay Range: $191,100 CAD

Responsibilities

• Build and run experiments to power the growth of Coinbase’s retail products.
• Design scalable backend systems using modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
• Articulate and drive a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams that run them.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs and run production services at scale.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services; familiarity with composing a service-oriented architecture.
• Strong emphasis on writing high-quality, well-tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and for crypto/blockchain technology.
• Experience operating real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates, and managing secure cloud infrastructure.

Nice to haves

• Experience launching new products from 0 to 1.
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Experience with blockchain technologies (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and familiarity with onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Experience building fintech, highly reliable, and/or secure systems.

Compensation & Benefits

• Target annual salary: $191,100 CAD (full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits).
