To achieve our mission, Coinbase is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the Consumer Product Group on the Country Expansion team focused on Canada. You will build the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, solving large-scale, highly complex technical problems that bridge web-scale applications and blockchain technology. You will work on real-time, high-frequency, low-latency applications and manage secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable systems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
• Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams that run them.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.
• Influence Coinbase's presence in Canada by customizing the Coinbase app to the Canadian market and working with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining production services; knowledge of composing a service-oriented architecture.
• Strong focus on writing high-quality, well-tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and familiarity with crypto/blockchain concepts is desired.

Nice to haves:

• Experience launching new products from 0 to 1.
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Experience with blockchain technology (for example Bitcoin, Ethereum).
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
• Experience building fintech, highly reliable and/or secure systems.
• Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or other blockchain-based services.

Pay Transparency

The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).

Pay Range: $191,000 — $191,000 CAD
