At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. This role is on the Stablecoin team building platforms and infrastructure for stablecoin issuance, growth, and utility, including a Rewards Orchestration System used across Retail, Exchange, Prime, Custody, and Neptune product surfaces. The team works on projects such as issuing Canadian and Singaporean stablecoins and deploying stablecoins on additional chains and product surfaces. The environment is remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company offsites multiple times annually).

Responsibilities

  • Develop new services to meet critical product and business needs using industry best practices.
  • Architect and design scalable systems to solve novel problems.
  • Define a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the team.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn vision into a quarterly roadmap.
  • Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert; be the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for projects.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services and knowledge of service-oriented architecture.
  • Proficiency in writing high-quality, well-tested code.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to develop other engineers.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and for crypto/blockchain technology.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in rapid company growth (startup → mid-size).
  • Familiarity with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
  • Experience with blockchain technologies (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, engaging with dApps).
  • Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
  • Proficiency with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
  • Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.
  • Crypto-forward experience and familiarity with onchain tooling and interactions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range (target annual salary): 191,000 — 191,000 CAD.
  • Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
