To achieve our mission, Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Stablecoin team to build platforms and infrastructure for Stablecoin issuance, growth, and utility. The team develops systems such as a Rewards Orchestration System used across product surfaces (Retail, Exchange, Prime, Custody, Neptune) and works on issuing stablecoins for additional jurisdictions and deploying stablecoins to more chains.

The Stablecoin team currently comprises seven members (two IC3s, one IC4, two IC5s, one IC6) with multiple open headcounts. The role offers opportunities for mentoring and being mentored and requires collaboration with sister teams focused on Stablecoins UX and international rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Develop new services to meet critical product and business needs using industry best practices.
• Architect and design scalable backend systems to solve novel problems and define long-term visions for maintaining and scaling systems and teams.
• Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert; be the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for assigned projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn long-term visions into quarterly roadmaps.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.
• Immediate projects include issuing Canadian and Singaporean stablecoins and deploying stablecoins on additional chains across multiple Coinbase products.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services and knowledge of service-oriented architecture.
• Proficiency in writing high-quality, well-tested code.
• Leadership skills and experience developing other engineers.
• Passion for building an open financial system and belief in crypto/blockchain technology.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in rapid company growth (startup to mid-size).
• Familiarity with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Experience with blockchain technologies (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).
• Experience decomposing large monoliths into microservices.
• Familiarity or experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.

Work Arrangement

• Role is remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation (team and company offsites) is required throughout the year. Attendance at offsites is expected and supported.

Compensation

• Pay Range: $186,005 — $218,900 USD (target annual salary). Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
