While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

Responsibilities

• Work on the Core Reliability team within the Infrastructure (Platform) organization, ensuring system reliability and scalability.
• Manage and contribute to projects such as Scalability/Load testing, Configuration management systems, and Canary-based safe release capabilities.
• Help promote a reliability culture across Coinbase.
• Scale company systems by 10-20x and enhance service configuration management systems.
• Build and improve Safe Release (canary-based deployment) systems onboarding thousands of services and handling hundreds of deployments daily.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
• Proficient in composing service-oriented architectures.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code focused on customer needs.
• Passion for building an open financial system.
• Strong skills in system design, coding, observability, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and simply.
• Strong interpersonal skills working with engineers of varied seniority.
• Critical thinking under pressure and willingness to dive into any layer of the stack for debugging and improvement.

Nice to Haves

• Experience working in rapid growth environments.
• Proficiency in Ruby, Go, and Terraform.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Experience designing and building reliable systems.
• Experience working in highly regulated environments.
• Experience writing company-facing blog posts and training materials.
• Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Additional Information

• Position is remote-first but requires in-person participation throughout the year for team and company-wide offsites.
• Job includes target annual salary range with bonus, equity, and benefits.
