The Institutional Product Group enables the foundations of Coinbase's institutional business, supporting thousands of large financial institutions. The Foundations, Settlements and Transfers team is responsible for processing transactions across fiat, crypto, and internal ledgers, managing assets for clients, and building scalable, secure financial infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance services to meet critical product and business needs using Java, Golang and RDS Postgres.
  • Design scalable, high-volume and low-latency systems using modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
  • Work with engineers, designers, and product managers to turn product and technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain production services and database infrastructure.
  • Lead technical direction and provide mentorship for a team of engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining critical low-latency production services.
  • Familiarity with composing service-oriented architectures.
  • Good awareness of at least one major SQL or NoSQL database (Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB) and interest in optimizing and maintaining them.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with Golang and Ruby.
  • Familiarity with on-chain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses and dApps.
  • Experience with financial systems, banking, or fintech.
  • Knowledge of settlement concepts like T+1 or T+2 and the roles of clearing houses and settlement agents.
  • Experience scaling rapidly in a company growing from small to large engineering teams.
