Coinbase is seeking experienced backend engineers to join our team to build out the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. You will solve unique, large scale, highly complex technical problems, bridging the constraints posed by web-scale applications and blockchain technology. You will help build the next generation of systems to make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone across the globe, operating real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates, and managing the most secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.

The Institutional Product Group enables the foundations of Coinbase's institutional business supporting thousands of large financial institutions. We enable institutions to custody their digital assets and participate in the crypto economy in a secure and safe way. We take pride in building a scalable & secure crypto platform supporting hundreds of assets and enabling crypto participation with staking, governance and web3 gateways. The team works on cutting-edge crypto technologies, scalable infrastructure and UI surfaces across web, mobile and browser extensions in a fast-paced industry with opportunities to build new initiatives.

Pay Range: $191,100 — $191,100 CAD

Responsibilities

• Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang.
• Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
• Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams running them.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap.
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of customers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining production services and composing service-oriented architectures.
• Habit of writing high quality, well tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and working on crypto/blockchain-enabled products.

Nice to haves

• Experience going through rapid company growth (startup -> mid-size).
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Experience with blockchain technology (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, engaging with dApps or blockchain services).
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-critical systems.
