At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. The Institutional Product Group enables the foundations of Coinbase's institutional business supporting thousands of large financial institutions. The Institutional Staking Engineering team builds and maintains systems required to safely manage billions of dollars of staked digital assets across multiple blockchain networks. Staking enables customers to earn yield on digital assets and helps secure underlying blockchain networks.

Responsibilities

  • Build new backend services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang.
  • Design scalable systems and architectures using modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
  • Articulate long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams running them.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services and composing service-oriented architectures.
  • Strong engineering discipline: writing high-quality, well-tested code.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and interest in crypto/blockchain technologies.

Nice to haves

  • Experience growing with a company through rapid scale (startup → mid-size).
  • Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
  • Experience with blockchain technologies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
  • Experience decomposing large monoliths into microservices.
  • Familiarity or experience with: Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB.
  • Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.
  • Crypto-forward experience such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Pay & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $186,005—$218,900 USD (target annual salary; full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
