Senior Software Engineer, Booking Orchestration

Airbnb's Booking Orchestration team builds the next generation of the order orchestration system that powers booking flows across the Airbnb marketplace. This role focuses on architecting, building, launching and operating booking engineering systems to improve booking experience, system scalability and performance while collaborating closely with Bookings, Payments, Trust and other cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, launch and operate booking engineering systems to improve booking experience, scalability and performance.
• Design and implement complex features with a focus on data-driven decision making and performance optimizations.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners across Bookings and organizations such as Payments and Trust to understand and prioritize technical requirements.
• Grow knowledge of leading-edge practices and trends involving workflow orchestration systems and apply them to improve the platform.
• Help define and improve coding standards, development processes and engineering best practices.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Requirements

• 6+ years engineering experience with a BS/Masters (or 2+ years with a PhD) or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience building and scaling high-quality, high-traffic products or systems.
• Strong ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Ability to drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers.
• Familiarity with workflow and order orchestration systems and an interest in applying leading-edge practices to orchestration.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: $191,000 — $223,000 USD (actual base pay depends on factors such as experience, skills, and market demand).
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Location & Work Policy

• This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
• Candidates must live in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states may be excluded).
• Offices: United States.
