Senior Software Engineer, Frontend - Risk Platform

The Risk Platform Team builds flexible, scalable, and customizable engineering systems to detect and prevent fraud, incorporating real-time, near-real-time, and scheduled workflows. This role focuses on building the next generation of web and mobile experiences that power Coinbase's risk and fraud systems.

Responsibilities

• Shape the next generation of Risk Platform architecture that powers Coinbase.
• Articulate long-term technical direction and vision for maintaining and scaling web and mobile platforms.
• Create trustworthy user experiences that are simple, comprehensible, performant, and reliable.
• Build interfaces using modern tools such as React, React Native, TypeScript, React Navigation, Jest, and Webpack.
• Turn vision into a tangible roadmap each quarter by working with engineers, product managers, and senior leadership.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Contribute positively to team culture and make coworkers feel included.
• Participate in in-person meetings, team and company-wide offsites (in-person participation is required throughout the year).

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern component-based frameworks (e.g., React).
• Experience developing and shipping user-facing features using component-based UI frameworks.
• Familiarity with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security, and usability.
• Familiarity with product and design lifecycles and collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product managers.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Nice to haves

• Experience on front-end teams in finance or compliance.
• At least 1 year of experience developing React Native mobile apps or migrating native apps to React Native.
• Interest or experience in blockchain/crypto technologies and risk/fraud domains.

Pay Range

• $186,065—$218,900 USD (target annual salary depending on candidate location). Full-time offers also include bonus + equity + benefits.

Other notes

• Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required periodically throughout the year. Team and company offsites are held multiple times annually and attendance is expected and supported.
