Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack (Developer - Onramp)

Join Coinbase's Onramp team to help build the rails that move money onchain and offchain. Onramp is the easiest way to move money onchain and a key part of onboarding users into crypto. You'll work on a startup-like team within Coinbase that enables billions of dollars a year to come onchain and supports customers including Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Phantom, Block (Bitkey), and Ledger.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable backend services and APIs that power fiat↔onchain flows.
• Ship fast, accessible front-end user experiences that handle real-world edge cases.
• Design and integrate distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven patterns with internal and third-party services.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in code reviews and testing practices.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to improve customer UX.
• Advocate for and help build great developer tooling and developer platforms.
• Participate in in-person team and company-wide offsites and other required in-person collaboration throughout the year.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills: able to build backend services and ship front-end UIs.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven patterns.
• Experience designing and integrating with internal and third-party services.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working closely with designers and product managers.
• Passion for developer tooling and platform design.
• Passion for onchain/Web3 and understanding of blockchain technologies, particularly Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains.

Nice to haves

• Experience through rapid company growth (startup → mid-size).
• Experience building on blockchain technologies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.

Benefits & Compensation

• Pay Range: 191,100 CAD per year (target). Full-time offers may also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
