At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. The Platform Product Group builds trusted, scalable, and compliant platform services (Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, Infrastructure). The Payments team is building payment infrastructures, user experiences, workflows, and APIs to enable fiat-to-crypto onramps and large-scale institutional payment flows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend and frontend payments systems and infrastructure powering multiple Coinbase products.
  • Serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for key projects and drive them from design to production with high accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn vision into a roadmap and shipping work.
  • Mentor and train other team members and contribute to an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues, ensuring performance, stability, reliability, and security of payment systems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Strong software engineering skills across backend and frontend: ability to build reliable backend services and ship fast, accessible UIs that handle real-world edge cases.
  • Strong proficiency in backend technologies (example callout: Golang) and API design.
  • Experience with modern frontend stack: JavaScript / TypeScript and React.
  • Strong collaboration skills with product, design, and engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of high-quality code and software engineering processes and how to foster them in a team.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and enthusiasm for crypto/blockchain technology.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Golang, gRPC, Docker, Kafka, AWS cloud, SnowFlake, Databricks.
  • Experience in the financial domain.
  • Crypto-forward experience: familiarity with onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps or other blockchain-based services).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $186,065—$218,900 USD (target annual salary; full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
