Details

Airbnb was born in 2007 and has grown into a global platform connecting hosts and guests. The Host ops tooling team builds tools and services to support home-sharing, partnering with internal and external stakeholders (Legal, Data Science, Operations, Product, Design) to deliver scalable, auditable, and automated solutions. The team is developing a supply moderation platform and aims to enable launches in new cities with minimal engineering effort.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build server-side systems, backend services, and well-defined APIs that are service-oriented, modular, observable, configurable, and efficient.
  • Create highly automated, auditable, access-controlled tools for compliance and operations teams to reduce manual work.
  • Design scalable systems and data pipelines to support onboarding, curation, labeling, and vetting of supply.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to implement algorithms that enhance analytics and content classification.
  • Work across the stack as needed to address technical challenges and ensure production-quality, high-performance code.
  • Mentor other engineers and lead by example; work closely with cross-functional partners across product, design, data science, policy, operations, and legal.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-time work experience in software engineering, information technology, or a related domain.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages (examples listed: Java, Ruby, C#, C++).
  • Expertise with popular storage systems such as relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience designing and building large-scale production systems; knowledge of SOA (service-oriented architecture) design patterns.
  • Ability to write high-performance, production-quality code.
  • Willingness to work across the stack and tackle ambiguous problems.
  • Experience with APIs, observability, automation, access control, and building auditable tools.
  • Experience or familiarity with data pipelines and collaboration with AI/ML teams.
  • Experience with A/B testing, strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a bias for action.

Benefits

  • Base pay range (India, annual, inclusive of allowances): ₹4,500,000—₹6,500,000 INR. Role may be eligible for bonus or incentives, equity programs, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
