Details

At NVIDIA, the Holoscan Platform is an open-source solution for sensor AI that enables developers to build, optimize, and deploy GPU-accelerated solutions that process multimodal sensor data in real time. Holoscan was pioneered for healthcare imaging and has expanded into domain-agnostic uses across robotics, industrial automation, astronomy, earth observation, and more. As part of the Holoscan SDK team you will design APIs, build accelerated software pipelines, and collaborate with research and industry partners to deliver real-time AI foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the Holoscan SDK by designing intuitive, scalable APIs for real-time sensor, image, and multimodal data processing while balancing developer usability with peak GPU performance.
  • Prototype GPU-accelerated algorithms for computer vision, imaging, and sensor fusion; translate research prototypes into production-grade software.
  • Build and optimize core libraries for accelerated I/O, streaming, encoding/decoding, and large-scale data handling across domains such as healthcare, robotics, industrial automation, and astronomy.
  • Benchmark performance rigorously; profile and optimize against frameworks and research results.
  • Collaborate across teams and with external partners (robotics researchers, medical device makers, etc.) to ensure Holoscan integrates into varied platforms.
  • Influence product strategy through technical insights that shape roadmap decisions, performance goals, and standards for real-time AI systems.
  • Mentor and elevate peers and junior engineers in API design, GPU programming, and large-scale system development.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Deep passion for computer vision, real-time AI, and sensor-driven systems, with demonstrated ability to translate research into practical, high-performance solutions.
  • Proven experience designing APIs and frameworks that scale and are developer-friendly.
  • Strong programming expertise in modern C++ and solid Python skills for prototyping and tooling.
  • 8+ years of experience building and shipping complex, high-performance imaging or sensor-processing software.
  • Ability to profile, analyze, and optimize performance bottlenecks at software and hardware levels.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience working across technical domains with researchers and product teams.
  • Technical leadership perspective: proactive, sets high standards, mentors teammates.
  • Hands-on expertise with CUDA C/C++ and deep knowledge of parallel programming paradigms.

Ways to Stand Out

  • Knowledge of GPU architecture internals and demonstrated ability to extract high performance from hardware.
  • Background in low-latency streaming pipelines for multimodal sensor fusion (video, audio, depth, medical, or robotics sensors).
  • Experience with modern graphics APIs such as OpenGL, Vulkan, or DirectX and their integration into real-time systems.
  • Track record of open-source contributions in imaging, vision, or HPC frameworks.
  • Curiosity to apply Holoscan across new frontiers from robotic autonomy to space exploration.
