Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Security Platform Engineering IAM Onboarding team. The team builds and maintains a trusted, easy-to-use, and scalable platform to streamline adoption of Coinbase's access management solutions for first-party and third-party tools. Products include an end-to-end bootstrapper for creating internal tools with built-in authentication and authorization and a platform that synchronizes user entitlements from internal data stores to SaaS applications. These products are used by over 100 internal tools across the company.
Responsibilities
- Build new platform features to meet critical security and compliance needs using Golang.
- Develop high-quality, thoroughly tested code to enhance Coinbase's security posture.
- Simplify deployment, ownership, operation, and diagnosis of systems and products.
- Design scalable systems using modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with engineers, security analysts, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
- Serve as a direct communication channel for Coinbase developers using the platform, offering design input and debugging assistance.
- Balance security and compliance requirements with positive developer and administrator experiences as the platform grows from hundreds to thousands of services.
Requirements
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services; ability to compose a service-oriented architecture.
- Strong technical skills in system design and coding; ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with platform customers and teammates.
- Passion for developing state-of-the-art, mission-critical security controls.
- Practical experience with Golang (used to build new platform features).
- Experience working with cloud-based systems and designing for scalability, reliability, and operational simplicity.
- Familiarity with authorization and authentication concepts and synchronizing entitlements to SaaS applications is highly relevant to the role.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on greenfield projects.
- Experience developing products within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) domain.
- Experience building a product/platform utilized by other developers.
Work Model & Culture
- Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company-wide offsites held multiple times annually). Attendance at these events is expected and supported.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $186,065β$218,900 USD (target annual salary; final offers may include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
