Our team brings OpenAI’s most capable technology to the world through our products (ChatGPT, GPT-4, the Whisper API, and DALL-E). We empower consumers and developers to access state-of-the-art AI models and ensure these tools are used responsibly. We are looking for a senior software engineer to build the foundational identity platform across OpenAI products — authentication, authorization, and access control systems — while keeping the product experience seamless for users and customers. You will work across the product fleet (ChatGPT, Plugins, API) and enable other engineers to integrate identity functionality into their products.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build the next generation of authentication and authorization at OpenAI, including integration with the product roadmap.
- Work across the stack to build end-to-end authentication products for ChatGPT and API users.
- Design the identity platform for consumer internet scale and solve scalability bottlenecks as they arise.
- Build tools and primitives to empower other engineers to more easily build authentication into their products.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, go-to-market, and other engineering teams.
Requirements
- Experience or interest in Authentication, Authorization, Federation, and Identity Management.
- Interest or experience with protocols such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, SCIM, and OpenID Connect.
- Industry experience with projects such as Hydra or Auth0 is a plus.
- Experience with languages such as Python or Golang.
- Ability to own problems end-to-end and learn missing knowledge as needed.
- Ability to move quickly in an environment with loosely defined requirements and competing priorities.
