NVIDIA is developing groundbreaking solutions in Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and Autonomous Vehicles. The Planning and Controls team is building algorithms for autonomous driving, focusing on comfortable driving experience, occlusion handling, driver-in-the-loop situations, and complex traffic rules for fully autonomous operation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop reliable, redundant, and safety-critical algorithms for behavior and motion planning on highways and urban roads.
  • Work on redundant actuation, degraded operation, and fail-safe control problems.
  • Architect, design, and implement new behavior planning features based on product-driven requirements.
  • Test and validate functionalities in simulations and real-world road scenarios.
  • Develop an autonomous system with safety concepts adaptable to various geographical regions, sensors, map availability, and environmental conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineers in perception, mapping, vehicle control, and user experience domains.

Requirements

  • BS or higher in a technical engineering field (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years proven experience in software development.
  • Applied robotics experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of C/C++.
  • Familiarity with Python.
  • Comfortable with Linux or other Unix-based systems.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to solve technical problems in compute-constrained environments.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle software development and production code deployment.
  • PhD or related research experience in a relevant field.
  • Background in planning is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CUDA is advantageous.

Salary

The base salary range is 184,000 USD - 356,500 USD, determined by location, experience, and compensation for similar positions.
