Join Airbnb's Identity team to enhance transparency and trust across the platform by improving identity verification, expanding verification to businesses, reducing identity misuse, and optimizing vendor integrations. You will work on systems at scale, collaborate with cross-functional partners (product, design, operations, data scientists), prototype and productionize solutions, and help drive engineering decisions that reduce fraud and improve trust for hosts and guests.
Responsibilities
- Build and continuously improve identity and trust systems at scale, working with large data sets.
- Prototype, develop, productionize, and test solutions and defenses to existing and emerging fraud trends.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists to identify opportunities for business impact, refine requirements, and quantify impact.
- Lead vendor integration and optimization efforts to reduce cost and reliance on external vendors and improve verification effectiveness.
- Drive technical design and evaluation of approaches for identity verification, business verification, and identity misuse detection.
- Mentor junior developers and help elevate engineering practices on the team.
Requirements
- 6+ years industry experience.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building and scaling high-quality, high-traffic products or systems.
- Experience with identity verification, fraud prevention, or identity systems.
- Ability to evaluate technical approaches, design product solutions for real-world problems, drive alignment, manage projects, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience working with large data sets and partnering with data scientists to inform detection and verification strategies.

Compensation & Location
- Pay range (base): $185,000 — $220,000 USD. This role may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
- Location: US — Remote eligible. Role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites. Must reside in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states excluded). See company for full eligibility details.
