Role overview

The User Product Team is a backend team focused on user-related systems (signup, login, user profiles, and user interactions). The team builds consistent, scalable platforms that enable guests, hosts, and businesses to represent themselves and interact across Airbnb.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams across the stack and work closely with counterparts within Authentication Infrastructure, Trust, Knowledge Graph, Search, Listings, and others to build scalable, high-quality platforms and foundations.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to define and execute on products and features that enable guests and hosts to set up accounts and profiles quickly and easily.
  • Architect and build efficient, reusable backend components and design reliable, high-performance, scalable systems.
  • Evaluate and prototype new technologies and techniques to enable faster iterations and execution across the tech stack.
  • Mentor and support other engineers on the team and in related teams.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • 6+ years industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building and scaling high-quality, high-traffic products or systems.
  • Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
  • Ability to drive alignment, manage projects, and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring junior developers.

Location & Work Policy

  • This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
  • Candidates must live in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states may be excluded).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $191,000 — $223,000 USD (actual base pay dependent on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands).
  • This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
