As a key individual contributor on this team, you will have the opportunities to drive team directions and partner with key teams across the company such as Search, listings, discovery, booking and checkout.
The Difference You Will Make
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer who is looked up to as a backend engineering expert and leader for our Data and ML merchandising platform. We are at the early journey of building a company-wide merchandising centric platform and products in a multi-year effort. As a leader in this team, you will have the unique opportunity to drive multiple years of technical vision and architect a merchandising system which serves online and offline data merchandising insights from scratch. You will be in charge of the whole lifecycle of big yet ambiguous problem solving from prototyping to leading a group of talented engineers to deliver high quality work through multiple releases.
Responsibilities
- Provide critical input and be able to influence technical direction.
- Architect backend and ML end-to-end solutions for millions of users to drive organic bookings and improve user experience.
- Influence and collaborate with stakeholders to adopt team goals and roadmaps.
- Work with cross functional partners (Product Managers, MLEs, DS, Analytics etc.) to design and deliver high-quality systems.
- Mentor engineers on a day-to-day basis to ensure quality and directions, both within and outside of the organization.
Requirements / Your Expertise
- 12+ years of industry experience as a backend engineer with a BS, MS or PhD in a relevant field.
- Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products or systems.
- Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
- Ability to drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with large scale stakeholders.
- Experience working with ML solutions and product platforms is a plus.
- Experience working in merchandising and discovery domains is a plus.
Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. While the position is Remote Eligible, you must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Compensation & Benefits
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
Pay Range
$244,000 — $305,000 USD
